Getting ready for Miss Trusler's wedding...

For choosing last week we decided that it would be a good idea to dress up ready for Miss T's wedding that is coming up!
We know that we aren't going but we really liked dressing up for it!

This week Miss T also had a bit of a change around in the classroom, we noticed that Brook's cat, River, always manages to find the library corner. We decided that it was a good idea to name the library corner after him. Welcome to River's Library Corner!

Great day...great week

Well I can't believe that it's that time of the term when Mrs P heads to Raro! She is on her way tonight and we are planning a skpye call while she is there....fingers crossed it happens!
We had a great day today, we were introduced to a new reliever! Her name is Miss TeRaki, she went to college with Miss T. She was in the senior room and helped with the shared lunch and also choosing time. We had lots of fun at choosing time and we were really happy to see that a couple of the pre-school kids came along. We like it when pre-schoolers come to choosing time, it means that they get to know the school and we have more people to play with.

We had so much fun dressing up pretending that we were going to Miss T's wedding which is in two weeks! We thing we looked awesome!!!! Miss T even took some photo's, I think she will put some pictures up when all the permission forms come back. The slip was on the back of the newsletter. Please sign it and return it Miss T. We can't wait to see some photo's up on the blog.

Today we looked at the blog and also at the senior blog. Then Miss T showed us the one she made from last year and the Macraes blog for this year. She also showed us a great website called ABCya and you can play lots of different games. We built a car with the whole class...it looked great!

Our family

We are doing social sciences at the moment and this involves looking at our families. We have been looking at different countries and where we come from. Last week we looked at Russia. We looked at their flag, food and even the traditional costumes.
Today each table had a different country, these are all related to the children and their background. Here is the flag and name of our countries that we looked at today.

We found out some very interesting things about these countries and have many more countries to look at. Feel free to come in and have a look.

Vote for our amazing school...

While surfing the internet last night, I discovered and site about The National bank giving away cricket gear. I decided to flick through the 'applications' to see what schools and clubs were looking to get cricket gear. I was also trying to decide who to vote for as well, when I came across our school! Well I'm all for getting some free gear, so I voted and then posted to Facebook for all my friends to vote too. I then had this thought this morning, "why not put it on the blog so all the families can vote too!" So that is what I am doing.
All you need to do is click on the link below and push vote on Karitane School, it's as easy as pie!
You never know we might get some free cricket gear, or some money to get some more...we'll have to wait and see.

Week 4

We have had an exciting week in the Junior Room!
On Wednesday we had Mrs Windmill come and relieve the Junior Room for the morning. We had lots of fun and even wrote stories about our amazing Native Birds.
On Wednesday afternoon we made some koru art with black paper and chalk pastel, then Miss Trusler sprayed them with HAIR SPRAY!!!! Can you believe it? She says it sets the chalk on the paper so that it doesn't rub off.
On Thursday Miss Trusler surprised us with a fun run around the field, when we got back she had changed the classroom around! Come in and have a look! It looks awesome, we even have a new place for our mat.
Today (Friday) we had a great choosing day. We weeded the gardens and there are some good looking sunflowers coming out.
